The boys were up for a visit and we had snow. Yeck!! It is May for goodness sake. They played with the Arctic set and "used their imagination". They are coming back this weekend. It is what we Canadians call The May 2-4 weekend. People open their cottages this weekend. Our little town, on the shores of Lake Huron is already noticeably busier. The weather man is promising some slightly warmer temperatures. So a little outdoor play will be on the agenda.
I am able to sit at my sewing machine for short periods of time as the knee is starting to bend better. It has only been a month and so I should perhaps not be quite so impatient. Everyone says it is looking good. I do not however see the surgeon for another three weeks. And just when you think you should feel a little sorry for yourself you just need to open your eyes and look around. At Physio last week the patient seeing the physiotherapist after me was one of my classmates from University. She had both knees done the week after I had my single knee done. She has a tougher road ahead of her. Piecefully, Joanne

A beautiful day in the neighbourhood
this weekend the boys were taking advantage of what Grandpa could save from their old swing set. We had a nice visit and they are coming back again next weekend. Grandpa has also constructed some new paths through the garden that are good for running. The fenced area is an attempt to keep the rabbits at bay and is working so far.
On the quilting and sewing front I have attached a couple of bindings to Scrapbag quilts and done some machine quilting. Friday I hope to get my regular piecing machine back and will (barring the unforeseen) buy myself a new machine. Piecefully, Joanne

What keeps me busy
These are the two young men who will occupy a little more of my time than usual over the next couple of months. Their Mom will be packing up and getting ready for the second move in a year. Not something I would wish on anyone. Hopefully it will be the last move for a while.
But it is not all babysitting. Friday and Saturday I went to Toronto and attended the Ontario Home Economics Association Annual General Meeting and Conference. I was a founding member of the Association over 30 years ago and have maintained my membership over the years. I met some bright and articulate and well informed younger members this year. It made me feel the Association is in good hands. One young home economist maintains a web site and a blog here . She has a wealth of information about sodium and other hidden ingredients in your food. Well worth investigating. I have my kits all ready for Scrap Bag day on Wednesday this week. So let another week begin. Piecefully, Joanne
